Clearing the blast zone: signalling and delineation that just works

Glen 2 Oct 2026 1 min read

Rechargeable sirens and self-charging beacons remove the weak points of aerosol horns and disposable batteries.

The last step before firing is making sure everyone is clear. That relies on two things: a warning people can hear, and a perimeter they can see, day or night.

Signalling without aerosol cans

Aerosol air horns bring toxicity, pressure and disposal problems, and output drops as cans empty or get cold. Hornet™ sirens are rechargeable and deliver a consistent 120 dB(A), with over 2,000 one-second bursts per charge.

  • 14 V lithium-ion battery, about 30 minutes to recharge
  • Charges from 240 VAC mains or a 12 VDC vehicle outlet
  • Not subject to ADGC regulation for transport, storage or handling

A perimeter that charges itself

Solar safety beacons charge under any light, including fluorescent, and switch on automatically at dusk. Four high-intensity LEDs are visible from about 400 m at night, for up to three nights on a full charge.

Complete the delineation

Combine beacons with reflective bunting, blast-area pyramids, cone sleeves and barrier poles to mark the exclusion zone clearly.
