Attach a weight to the snap ring and lower the tape to measure hole depth. Submergo™ tapes are durable, flexible and light, with graduations printed on both sides to cut reading errors. Crews at BHP and Rio Tinto use them, and they serve as the physical reference when sites calibrate LIDAR and RADAR hole-depth systems.

Optical and electromagnetic systems can struggle with sloughing, water, debris and deviation. A dip tape gives the true hole depth that electronic readings are checked against.
