Varistem® improves confinement at the collar of the blast hole. By reducing premature venting and stemming ejection, it shifts energy from air over-pressure and vibration into shock and heave, which improves fragmentation and lowers total blasting and processing cost.

SDOB measures how well an explosive charge is confined. It relates stemming height to explosive column length, scaled to 10 hole diameters. When SDOB is controlled, rock breakage improves and environmental impact drops.
By improving confinement they reduce flyrock, air blast and over-blasting, which means less waste and lower energy use.
